Experience
I have over twenty years of experience working to help people from all walks of life improve their personal effectiveness and sense of well-being through counseling and psychotherapy using art as a primary modality.
Children, teens and young adults particularly benefit from psychotherapy using art processes. I have an excellent rapport and easy style of communicating with each child. I come from a strength-based perspective in my work with them and their families. I have a BA in Art Education, K-12, and lifelong experience in alternative education. My experience also includes working with children attending public, private and home schools.
My years of counseling people with disabilities, including developmental and physical disabilities, in a variety of settings and professional capacities has, helped me to understand more about the many ways individuals can react/respond to their environments. I am comfortable using alternative means of communication.
I have had professional training and experience in managing resources for people with developmental disabilities, thus gaining a deeper understanding of community inclusion, advocacy, and person centered planning from another perspective.
My eclectic approach is intuitive, gentle and down to earth. I draw primarily from person-centered therapy, where positive regard and a loving presence are my gift to you, as we travel consciously together through your thoughts, reflections and feelings about yourself.
If you enjoy or are curious about using creative processes for catharsis, containment and possible sublimation, I am happy to be your guide either individually or in small groups using art and expressive therapy processes and experiences.
